Plot summary

While bouldering with her friend Jade, gym climber Rose falls for Bret, an experienced outdoorsman. She talks him into taking her - against his better judgment - on a famous, advanced rock-climbing route called "Killer Pillar." Disaster strikes when Bret falls and suffers a serious head injury and torn shoulder, leaving it up to Rose to save them both.

Ok, I'd better say upfront that I'm a

Ok, I'd better say upfront that I'm a rock climber. The photography in the movie is great, the scenery is beautiful, but… When the main protagonist (Rose) asks one climbing guru in the movie about lead climbing, the answer is to trust your body because it is more reliable than your mind. What utter bullocks! Just think about Alex Honnold! What sets him way above the rest of us mortals is his extraordinary mental ability to focus and control his emotions. The difference between lead climbing and top roping is purely psychological, and not physical. From a climbing perspective, there are so many other problems, such as taking a beginner on a multi-pitch route with no option to turn back, without helmets, without letting anyone know (other than a passing comment), and with little equipment. And what about the guy making Rose climb a chimney with a backpack on? How lame is that?! Why not bloody haul it up like the rest of humanity?! And attention to detail is not a strength of this movie. After Rose's first ever multi-pitch climb, she arrives back at camp with her skin absolutely smooth and clean, perfectly made up, and most astonishing of all, after lots of crack climbing, her impeccably manicured finger nails are still impeccable! And towards the end, how could Rose's forehead be as smooth as silk? Anyway, enough ranting. If you are a rock climber you MUST watch this movie. In the very least to count how many times you will be shouting "Oh, C'mon!!" or "Give me a break!" at the screen... ?

I really enjoyed it. While I am not

I really enjoyed it. While I am not personally a rock climber I did spend many of my younger years involved in extreme sports. Viewing this movie not only gave me a peek into rock climbing but reminded me of the dedication extreme sports require. A great flick that deserves my feedback. Hopefully, Oceanic Productions will bring us more!
