Plot summary

A goodnight for a life lesson rather than hanging from the end of a rope

Manipulative outlaw Dick Spratley (Grant) recruits wayward adolescents to comprise his gang, but doesn't reckon on judge Goodnight (Perry) teaching everyone a lesson in how the scales of justice should be applied.Righteous cowboy adventures featuring the amiable Perry as a fair-minded man of principle whose progressive approach to justice is at odds with townsfolk and their traditional views on crime & punishment.Grant is suitably nasty playing a squinty-eyed mean sob who sees opportunity in the exploitation of vulnerable youth, to further his own ends. Tall Pfetten looks a lot younger than her character, a widow to a teenager who's fallen into Spratley's orbit and now relying on Perry to save him from the hangman.For his part, Perry is relaxed in his second outing in the Judge John Goodnight character, a rogue moralist rallying against injustice and prejudice, a role well-suited to his laconic, easy-going charm. PG-grade TV western features a few shootouts, nasty villains and obnoxious townsfolk aiming to set an example to kids in choosing not to glamourise the outlaw stereotype.
