Plot summary

Gluten is a Joke is a powerful documentary exploring how gluten-free living became a punchline in pop culture and the real harm behind the humor. For many, what is dismissed as a trend is a serious medical necessity. Through personal stories and community voices, the film highlights those living with celiac disease and other medically required gluten-free lifestyles, revealing how jokes, skepticism, and stigma can lead to isolation, misunderstanding, and health risks. Rather than rejecting humor, Gluten is a Joke asks a deeper question: How can we laugh without causing harm? It calls for empathy, awareness and respect for lived experiences.
