Plot summary

In Angola's mist-shrouded highlands, three KhoiSan master trackers embark on a spiritual quest to rediscover the legendary "ghost elephants" of Lisima, creatures presumed lost but remembered in ancestral trance, ritual, and memory.

As I watched this I KNEW critics were

As I watched this I KNEW critics were going to be like "this is cinematic gold!" But honestly, I fell asleep multiple times, and I love animal documentaries. The narration was awful, the main guy is asked the same question multiple times "do you really want to see the ghost elephants that you’ve dedicated your life to finding, or would you rather it remain a mystery?" I’m sorry, but who ACTUALLY wants their life’s work to essentially be a waste of time, money and energy? Well apparently Steve does. That’s who. They somehow dragged out this "search" for over a full hour resulting in (spoiler alert) only a 10 second clip of an elephant and no definitive DNA answers, and nothing linking it to "Henry"… so… The icing on the sh** cake was the nonstop barrage of "foreign-sounding music" (as my subtitles labeled it… yes I had to turn on subtitles because I wanted to mute the music but not miss the awful narration in *case* there would ever be anything interesting said…there rarely was).

I love wildlife and I love elephants, so

I love wildlife and I love elephants, so the premise was very attractive to me, however, this documentary did absolutely nothing for me. Clearly a labour of love, but apart from a few seconds of obscured ghost elephants, its basically 90 mins of waffle. The idea here is conservation, but its so poorly delivered. They really needed to continue until there was something more substancial here... here lie the ghosts of my enthusiasm

A complete waste of time. It's neither gorgeous nor engaging. At least if there was a payoff, but we don't even get that.
