I have to say this at the beginning

I have to say this at the beginning: The only thing which still resonates in my mind after watching this documentary are the words: "President Abraham Lincoln speaks barely for two minutes at his dedication..." (one of the heroes of the battle) ! [img]http://plpnetwork.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/history-channel-gettysburg1.jpg[/img] This American Civil War television documentary film directed by Adrian Moat, narrated by actor Sam Rockwell, commenced a week of programming by the History channel honouring and commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the American Civil War. Gettysburg showcases the real horror of the important 1863 Battle of Gettysburg by following the stories of eight men as they put their lives on the line to fight for what they believed in. The Civil War Trust and the National Park Foundation for GIVE 150, a massive educational and fund-raising initiative to enhance Civil War education nationwide were involved in this documentary making. It is decently made documentary with the warning at the beginning regarding the images we are going to see and their effects they could have on us - and the director was right... some people will remember them, but I've seen too many things like that to be bothered. It went smoothly, but because it was initially made to be shown over few days the parts where the cuts were made were edited clumsily - repeating the sentences over! I will recommend if you are interested in facts about the battle... of course, the facts made available by the winners.

Beautiful recreation of the same style as Canada

Beautiful recreation of the same style as Canada: a people history. We see the battle mostly from the ground, showing the effects of bullets and artillerie on soldiers and armies. English against english. May the least evil win! We understand how little it would take to change the outcome. How stupidity and stubborness kill so many uselessly and lose the battle. They mention the slave trade was the deep root of the conflict but really, not much analysis to justify it. We feel like the soldier, ignorant and poised to kill or be killed for the wealth of our society. Nice bit about the soldier carrying his kids photos. I wonder if the other movies about the battle are better.
