Plot summary

We join Ben a year on as he is getting used to life without his beloved Gran. With the memory of their daring Crown Jewel heist still fresh in his mind, he is stunned to learn another spate of thefts are beginning to occur - with all the clues pointing to The Black Cat, better known to Ben as Granny!

Granny's Return

I recently watched *Gangster Granny Strikes Again* (2022), and I have to say, it was an enjoyable ride! This sequel brings back the lovable characters we fell in love with in the first film. The plot is fun and engaging, and it really captures that blend of adventure and humor that made the original so great.The chemistry between the characters is fantastic, especially between The Black Cat and her grandson. Their banter and mischief kept me chuckling throughout. The film successfully mixes action with heartfelt moments, and I found myself rooting for them every step of the way.While the storyline might feel a bit predictable at times, it still delivers enough surprises to keep you invested. The pacing was good, but I think some scenes could have been tightened up a little.Overall, I'd give *Gangster Granny Strikes Again* an 8 out of 10. It's a delightful film that's perfect for a family movie night. If you enjoyed the first one, you'll likely have a great time with this sequel!

Sadly this was a poor follow up.

Is Ben following in his late grandmother's footsteps into a life of crime? Is he the Black Cat, a Master thief of antiquities?It's a pale imitation of the original, where that had charm, warmth and humour, and a definite broad appeal for the whole family, this one just lacked anything unique.The jokes simply didn't land, none of it was in the slightest bit funny, it felt very tired and somehow stale.Julia McKenzie made the original, her absence was the major difference here, nobody quite fitted the bill, Maggie Steed was ok, but McKenzie was missed.Acting wise, I'll give credit to young Archie Yates, but some of the acting was mediocre at best, there's were just too many changes to the original lineup, I love both Griff Rhys Jones and Sheridan Smith, but the pair weren't great here. I thought David Walliams was excruciating.4/10.
