An intellectual construct that makes no attempt to

An intellectual construct that makes no attempt to relate to reality. The opening scene is very strong. We are watching from behind a woman from her waist up walking. We have no idea who she is or where she is going. We see and hear trains going by. She reaches the platform of a train station. We then see that she is actually walking on the tracks! She climbs up and continues walking until she realizes that she needs a bathroom. She is disheveled but walks on high heels. She stops, pulls down her underwear and urinates next to the other passengers who retreat in awe. End of the introduction. Two years later she reconnects with the family that she had abandoned. Initially acting psychotically, walking naked for example wearing just a windbreaker. How that a person was released from psychiatric care is a different story. Then surprisingly her behavior normalizes . And then even more surprisingly she decides to take off again! This is the story. Enjoy!

This was a sad movie. The acting was great but had a rotten ending. If you like movies that are good but have a sad ending, I recommend it to you. Otherwise, not.

The bulk of the movie is aimed at

The bulk of the movie is aimed at disorientation, and it does that well. There’s a constant sense of uncertainty, not just about who Alicja really is, but about everyone around her too. That ambiguity made the whole film feel unstable in a way that really worked. Her performance helps carry that—there’s enough depth that it’s possible to feel both the break and the lingering connection to her past. The tone and pacing give the story room to breathe, even reinforcing the sense of detachment. The ending, though, feels a bit artificial. It fits structurally, but it also seemed like the writer wanted it to go to a certain place, and in the end she just put it there. It didn’t ruin the movie, but it did hurt it.
