Plot summary

In the wake of their friends' marriages and eventual offspring, longtime pals Julie and Jason decide to have a child together without becoming a couple. By becoming "time-share" parents, they reason, they can experience the joys of parenthood without significantly curbing their personal freedom. However, when Julie and Jason both become involved with others, they discover that they secretly harbor romantic feelings for each other.

I’m late to this party but ugh. Cringeworthy

I’m late to this party but ugh. Cringeworthy. When Adam Scott kept referring to “Julia” as “doll” I was hoping it was some derivative of her name (Dolly, Dolathea…anything) but no- a young character in a 21st century NYC based movie is referring to his blond female friend as”doll.” I had flashbacks to the days of Milton Berle puffing on his gross cigar as he objectified women. Or worse, as described in Mona Chollet’s excellent book “Reinventing Love,” a superlative femininity attributed to Asian women implying signs of inferiority such as “small, thin and young” and a “ submissive social and economic rank.” And unless a couple is enduring something like severe economic distress, mental illness or substance abuse, no woman would relationally shriek at her husband and shame him the way in which Maya Rudolph’s character does . Another ugly stereotype of the tired and stressed mom Too many annoying things in this film to list . The ending was crude and cringy as well. Gave it two stars for Adam Scott. He can do no wrong. Wigg was wasted in this role

I just watched this film for the second

I just watched this film for the second time. I really liked it and could relate to it. I understand the infatuation with someone really hot and how quickly that fades as well as the attraction of being with someone who shares your same values, your sense of humor, and the mutual experiences that come with raising kids together.
