A great follow-up to the original that details

A great follow-up to the original that details how it's not consumption that is the problem with our food system, but in fact the supply chain itself in addition to the chemicals used and heavy hitters of the industry lobbying to keep the healthier options more difficult to obtain. This documentary lifted the curtain on the shady dealings of the food industry, the oligopoloy it currently enjoys and those trying to fix the system.

After watching Food Inc 1, was really excited

After watching Food Inc 1, was really excited to see the follow up over a decade later. There was little to know food/ag science. I should have known after seeing Cory Booker lying on camera again this was going to go south. The whole film is basically a back/underhanded slights and digs on Trump and props up failed far leftist policies/politicians under the guise of "food science" with very little food or science for the duration. If you want to be lectured on vegetarianism and veganism this will suit you just fine. If you wanted actual knowledge of food, science and how the food industry has progressed, this is a colossal political propaganda ridden waste of time. Extremely disappointed.

Well wouldn’t you know it…they actually made a sequel to the 2009 documentary covering the food industry being controlled by conglomerates in America You’d figure it would be a one-off kind of thing But truth be told a lot has changed in the last 15 years as far as this hot topic is concerned Food Inc. 2 delves deeper into the complex unknown intricacies of how our food supply is being handled even supposedly by the FDA and the USDA enforcing safety regulations Whether it’s organic, inorganic, money driven, genetically modified, healthy, unhealthy or even affordable to every person in the world At lot is at stake when you sit down to eat Most notably the COVID-19 pandemic shifted everything; crops were being buried and there were so many meat shortages in supermarkets, pigs being neutered instead of slaughtering, milk being dumped, baby formula being sold out on a mass scale, farms being bankrupt thanks to corporations buying up everything Fixing the system is important from being controlled by these mega companies, we can’t count on predictability anymore, it’s more profits over sustainability Even field workers specifically immigrants were still being treated as disposable next to fast food employees barely having enough income to feed their own families The government didn’t care who was sick with possible contact contamination being shipped to citizens countryside Is there a way to not have our tax dollars subsidize the stuff that makes people sick? What about the healthcare costs? How many want change as far as farming and manufacturing food? Is switching to green energy the answer? Why is it junk food is so much cheaper than healthy food? Food is manufactured, commercialized, decorated, and designed to lure in the average person, companies buy up their competitors, a consolidated market becomes fragile Nobody thinks about the person responsible sweating their backs and their muscles to deliver food products or the environmental effects of farmers in certain parts of the country despite the benefits of easy cropping Maybe breaking up monopolies is the key to innovation, flavor is the brains way of communicating nutrition, maybe it’s possible to reduce overeating without compromising the quality of taste Food Inc. 2 does a better job diving into the mysteries of food and its allure for consumers to the questions of health to the monetary value to minimum wage to healthier schools to climate control although the films pacing is manic at times It is challenging to find a balance with food for sure but we can change the incentive as well as policy to make our world healthier and safer to eat as far as innovation is concerned
