Plot summary
For more than a decade, parents Andy and Vicky have been on the run, desperate to hide their daughter Charlie from a shadowy federal agency that wants to harness her unprecedented gift for creating fire into a weapon of mass destruction. Andy has taught Charlie how to defuse her power, which is triggered by anger or pain. But as Charlie turns 11, the fire becomes harder and harder to control. After an incident reveals the family's location, a mysterious operative is deployed to hunt down the family and seize Charlie once and for all. Charlie has other plans.

Note good even without comparison to original movie. Too much cheap CGI, too much weak editing, one of the worst "antagonist" (if you even can call her that). But Carpenter's OST is still amazing, maestro nonetheless.

its something to watch but its like they jumped right into, Ok she starts fires with her mind, not much of a story. If I wanted to see that Id watch the tv remake of Carrie, where at the end she is doing same exact thing with her mind but Firestarter is not my fav Stephen King movie by all means.In fact the storyline could have been sold to Marvel or DC Comics

If you haven't read the novel, it won't make any sense. If you have, you'll spend two hours wondering why the screenwriter didn't.
Very poor remake. I prefer the 1984 version with a very young Drew Barrymore

Your facts are inaccurate. A screen test is not a starring role. Nicholas Cage starred in Superman using this logic. When someone replaces facts for opinion, attention needs to be drawn so others don't continue to believe it. It's widely available to fact check. I've already wasted enough time on this ridiculous topic.

The musical score of the original was Tangerine Dream - that alone beats this entire remake.
