Plot summary

Anne is an ordinary girl who wakes up alone on a mysterious island. With no recollection of who she is or how she got there, she needs to quickly figure out how to survive, and how to escape from her current predicament.

Identity's Endless Reflection

"What if your face isn't yours, your memories betray you, and everyone you see could be a version of yourself?"Faces of Anne ventures into high-concept psychological horror with a surreal framework. The protagonist, Anne, wakes up in a strange, asylum-hotel hybrid with no memory of who she is. Compounding the mystery, numerous women around her also share her name-"Anne"-and her face shifts among them every few minutes. The setting is oppressive, disorienting, and intentionally dreamlike.Visually and thematically, the film shines when exploring identity, memory, and the pressure of social roles. The motif of multiple faces (and multiple Annes) asks what it means to "be oneself" when your appearance, past, or role shifts unpredictably. Costume, color palette, the stark hospital spaces, and haunting demon-like creature "Vetigo" (a deer-headed monster) are used to amplify the sense of "otherness." The horror elements-chases, creature attacks, hallways filled with doubles-deliver their impact more through atmosphere than through shocks.However, the film struggles under its own complexity. The storytelling becomes overly intricate, with many Annes, shifts in faces, flashbacks, and dream logic that may confuse more than clarify. Pacing suffers in the middle; long stretches of build-up feel meandering, and the payoff-though thoughtful-is diluted by deferred revelations. Some viewers may feel the emotional stakes don't quite land, because the characters are often symbolic rather than fully grounded.Rating: 5/10 - A bold, visually inventive film with interesting questions about identity and self, but its murky plot and uneven pacing keep it from fully succeeding.

Thailand cinema steps forward

I know most of film viewers won't like it that much. And yeah I admit the pace is kinda lack of interesting. But actually the film is so much beautiful. Don't trust others opinion. Different people, different taste.

Spoiler Alert

This film reminds me of Jacob's Ladder and Alice in Borderlands. That metaphor and loops enhance the state of mind outstandingly. It's so much different from mainstream Thailand cinema. And I love it. Those kind of films should have been encouraged and supported. And in addition, this one is good enough. I want more like these rather than useless mainstream comedy shiis.
