Plot summary

A filmed version of Jonny Donahoe’s acclaimed one-man show about depression, suicide and the lengths to which people go for those they love. Poignant and humorous, it follows a young boy who attempts to ease his mother’s depression by starting an enormous running list of everything worth living for.

A bravura performance, with ingenious methods of pulling

A bravura performance, with ingenious methods of pulling the audience into the presentation in a loving, warm-hearted way. It examines depression that is likely hereditary, and the path that is opened to suicidal thoughts after a loved one kills themself. It doesn't resolve completely, and in pushing for 'every brilliant thing' to list, it sometimes reaches too far. But highly recommended.

I'm currently learning this play for my drama

I'm currently learning this play for my drama class. This script is well written and combines a mix of humor with a heart-quenching overall theme. I have a suicidal friend so this piece was particularly moving for me.
