Plot summary

South Africa, 1978. Tim Jenkin and Stephen Lee, two white political activists from the African National Congress imprisoned by the apartheid regime, put a plan in motion to escape from the infamous Pretoria Prison.

This might not be a rumination on apartheid

This might not be a rumination on apartheid South Africa more widely, though that would've given it a boost; as a reminder of how Ian Jenkin masterminded one of the most improbable prison escapes ever seen, it possesses enough knife-edge tension to work. It really is Jenkin's story though, to the extent that his two co-escapees might as well not exist at times. This is especially true of the French(?) third chap who, for reasons I really can't be sure of, was fictionalised and given an invented name (he was actually Alex Moumbaris). Why not fully honour the courage of all three? And those accents...look, I appreciate what a challenge attempting an accurate SA accent presents, but when Ian Hart as Denis Goldberg is the best of the lot you know you're in a heap of trouble. Then there's that totally redundant shot from right after the night guard defecated in the loo. For all its many glaring flaws, however, Escape from Pretoria is a worthwhile tribute to a soul who never let fascism win.

Well shot but should of just called the

Well shot but should of just called the movie “The Lock smith” seemed to be mainly about key cutting then anything else , not worth the high reviews wouldn’t waste your time
