Plot summary

Ernest, a lovable loser who works as a summer camp handyman and dreams of becoming a guidance counselor, must find a way to inspire a group of juvenile delinquents while stopping a shady strip mining company from closing the camp as well.

Watched this tonight for the first time in

Watched this tonight for the first time in over 20 years, I wasn't expecting much as I didn't think this film would hold up very well as an adult, fortunately I really enjoyed this movie a lot as I enjoyed seeing Ernest finding the good in the Second Chance campers and caring for them when no one else would, I also enjoyed seeing the Second Chance campers and the two snobby regular campers mending their ways and working together to save the camp. The scene where Ernest was singing "Gee I'm Glad It's Raining" definitely made me feel sad as it was an emotional moment.

Ernest is one of the most charismatic and

Ernest is one of the most charismatic and lovable characters of all time. In his solo big screen debut he shows off his acting skills against some truly great child actors. This movie has everything from action to drama and Jim Varney shows off his singing voice with a song that wont leave a dry eye in the theater. Interwoven with all that is some of the best slapstick comedy of the 80s.
