I understand that this is a low budget film and they did a good job in creating post apocalypse sets. The problem with every apocalypse/post apocalypse movie or series is the vanity of the actors. We are two weeks into an apocalypse and Claire has no food, no shelter, and is wearing ragged clothes. Somehow her priority is to keep her underarms cleanly shaved. This is always a problem with apocalypse films, especially The Walking Dead series. It seems like a small detail, but it immediately takes you out of the world building they are trying to create. The men are all unshaved. Lets have more verite, and less vanity.

The film opens with Claire (Jamie Bernadette) ty-wrapped to a chair turning into a zombie. Freddie (Craig Stark) is in the room with her. It then jumps back to three months earlier. Freddie puts down a family member (Victoria De Mare). Claire is scavaging for food and gets caught by a gang and raped. They find each other in the streets of LA. Freddie teaches Claire self-defense. He was special ops. Claire was a rich party girl. They travel east, unlike all the other zombie films where everyone travels west and tries to live on an island.

I noticed this was an Asylum film and was hoping for something akin to "Z Nation." It was not. It was a sad melancholy tale. The film was too long as they worked to extend scenes until boredom.
