Plot summary

1st time reviewing a film here. I have

1st time reviewing a film here. I have led a similar life to these characters and I tell you these emotions you see on the screen are very true to life. I want my adopted son, who's father drowned when he was 8 years old, to see this and contact his other mother before one of us dies. Could be anyone of us, so wish me luck, sending him the link now. Daughter has not spoken to me for a long time. Her father is also dead. He was a sea captain, but died in a care home. I went to say goodbye to him and it was very sad to see that big handsome man so tiny in his wheelchair. He lived another 11 months, such was the strength of he, my silver haired viking. So watch this magnificent film, I think I am well qualified to implore you to watch it. Then pick up the telephone and RING your parent/child /friend, don't wait until it's too late. Everything is good about this work, from the superb acting, scenery, music, the timing, the words not spoken. My hat's off to all of you, truly?Excellent

This is the only movie I have felt

This is the only movie I have felt strongly enough about to comment on. For me, the long-lost father is insincere, self-serving and selfish. He had affairs throughout his marriage, abandoned his lover and their son, then resurfaces and asks his son, not only for forgiveness for not being there for 30 years, but also asks him to help the father commit suicide. After the son gives his father the lethal concoction, the father jumps into the waterfall. What was the point of putting his son through this ordeal if he was going to kill himself anyway by jumping off the bridge into the waterfall? This is a frustrating and infuriating portrayal of a sexist, misogynist who still gets what he wants in death. It's all about manipulation and selfishness. Very disappointing.

Slow Slice of Life

Other than the Falls, there is nothing Argentinian about this. It was just about ordinary, flawed people. So don't be put off if you are not from Latin America.The setting is gorgeous. Imagine living so close to one of the wonders of the world. Our main guy embodies the "everyman" angst we encounter in life and film frequently.He's not a great looking stud, nor a wallflower dork. He works for a living, drinks a beer, and goes home to a nice partner. His mom is eccentric but has a lot of heart.But who knows what lurks in another person's past, unless they talk about it? This guy has a story, but he's not the type to talk about it. Until someone forces him to.His biological father has made some mistakes. Does he deserve forgiveness? Not necessarily, but the people in his past have a free will chance to embrace, reject, or at least deal with him.It's a simple story, not manipulated by a conspicuous soundtrack, except for some very effective Karaoke moments.It's all excruciatingly slow, but redeemed by thoughtful performances, real world experiences, and a redemptive arc.Ultimately, it's a character study of multiple characters with a moral dilemma at its center. I recommend if you have the patience.
