Submission for Best Foreign Film from Chile. Based on a true story surrounding Carolina Maria Geel ‘s murder of her lover in downtown 1950 Santiago. A paralegal attached to her case falls in love with her client’s perceived life. Tender, well performed and good production value.

I loved everything about this movie. The acting

I loved everything about this movie. The acting was understated and brilliant. The lead actress, Elisa Zulueta, was a revelation. I fell in love with the clothes she wore. So chic. I will probably watch it again.

I loved this exploration of historical events through

I loved this exploration of historical events through a fictional character outside of the scope of the news. In the vein of Virginia Woolf's 'A Room of One's Own,' it explores space and voice in women's liberation, through the lens of class and familial differences between two women. Writer Georgina has explosive and self-righteous voice, shooting her lover and writing a book while minimally detained for shooting him. Secretary Mercedes continually fails to speak up for herself at home-where her husband and sons expect her to clean up after them and do all the domestic chores-though she appears to be the main source of family income. Through her access to elite legal spaces at work, Mercedes gains access to the elite evacuated apartment of Georgina. But only as an imposter. Elisa Zulueta beautifully conveys Mercedes's mixture of emotions from enjoyment, to simultaneous judgement and admiration of Georgina, to protectiveness, etc. All while maintaining Mercedes's tendency to silence.
