A brilliant story but I feel like it was poorly executed. The idea of having this Spanish wonder kid, Diego, learn to control his behaviour and also overcome personal challenges such as his Dad and Agent having to much control over his career whilst balancing relationship issues is such a cool idea and inspiring for young Footballers however it fails to actually show Diego overcome these obstacles!I felt like I was enjoying the story and I felt like the Teacher, Alex was really getting on with Diego but then there's moments which don't make sense to me. Why would Alex not want to hang out with Diego to study him more? Why did the movie set up Alex to also have a character arc just for him to not have one and end up being pushed to a supporting character to Diego? The movies run time really makes things to short that I feel like the Writers couldn't include everyone learning their eventual lesson. The ending annoys me because we don't know if Diego scores or not to help Atletico Madrid win La Liga and we don't even know if his move to Manchester City went through or not! Rather than a complete movie we are left wondering what happens next, almost like there's going to be a Part 2?We don't see Diego overcome his dyslexia struggles and we don't see him change his environment of bad friends or even bad Agent. I thought Alex on the hand made some super questionable choices such as refusing to explain to Diego what was happening around him at the party with the Dad and Agent organising the move to Manchester City all behind his back, even the Club's Director's, Manager etc. Would have all been involved in such a huge transfer like that so it doesn't make sense that the movie didn't put some blame on them for not consulting Diego. Alex just regressed I think throughout the movie, he looked like he was going forward but eventually the choices he made started making him less like a "hero" that the movie portrays him to be. We don't even find out about what happened when he was drunk and supposedly slept with one of Diego's friends! There's so much unanswered questions in this movie.I thought the cinematography was meh, at times it looked more like a documentary than an actual movie for entertainment purposes. The lighting was far too bright and sometimes even far too dark. The sound, maybe it was my TV but the sound was too low and when I found myself turning the volume up then it was too loud! All I'll say is that the sound is very inconsistent throughout the movie. The soundtrack selection is so basic and doesn't feel like it matches the tone that the film is setting plus the Green Screen at times looked atrocious and like a fan-made project! It was quite underwhelming for a billion-dollar company like Netflix.Just very mediocre really, there's a story but it isn't told properly and doesn't feel complete. All the characters learn almost nothing and are made out to have learned from their mistakes but clearly don't! 5/10, bang average.

Overall, the movie is good good acting overall good production value. Interesting story they could easily gone further with it. The biggest with this movie is that a hook you in it is slow pace, so it's not something wanna watch in the middle of the night otherwise you will fall asleep. However, the movie does grab you and when it grabs, you won't let go you root for the good guy, however you have no idea what happens to the bad guy. There are about five different stories going on at the same time and while the most important stories are upfront, there is no conclusion to any of the stories. Not sure if they were thinking, they'll make a sequel to this movie just to show you what happens after the fact, but the ending absolutely sucks , and this is the reason why can I get higher than a.

*"The Champion"* is a compelling sports drama that takes you deep into the turbulent life of Diego, a rising soccer star whose journey is as much about personal redemption as it is about athletic achievement. Set against the vibrant backdrop of European football, the film offers a raw and authentic portrayal of the highs and lows that accompany fame and the pressures of professional sports.
Diego's character is one that viewers will find both frustrating and sympathetic. As a young athlete who has reached the peak of his career at Atlético de Madrid, he quickly becomes a victim of his own success. His natural talent on the field is undeniable, but his reckless behavior and emotional immaturity lead to a downfall that feels both inevitable and tragic. The film does an excellent job of illustrating how the very qualities that make Diego a star-his passion, intensity, and refusal to back down-are also the ones that threaten to destroy him.
The introduction of Alex, the psychologist, adds a refreshing and insightful dimension to the story. Alex is not your typical sports movie coach; he's a man grappling with his own loneliness and disillusionment, which makes his attempts to guide Diego all the more poignant. Their relationship is the heart of the film, evolving from initial resistance to a deep, albeit complicated, bond. It's through Alex that Diego begins to confront his demons, and the film beautifully captures the gradual, often painful process of personal growth.
One of the film's strengths is its unflinching portrayal of the darker side of sports fame. The glitz and glamour of being a professional athlete are ever-present, but so too are the pressures, the media scrutiny, and the isolation that comes with it. The narrative is rich with moments that highlight the internal and external conflicts faced by top-tier athletes. Whether it's the tense interactions with club management, the volatile outbursts on the field, or the quiet moments of introspection, *The Champion* never shies away from showing the toll that this life can take.
Visually, the film is a treat for sports fans. The soccer sequences are shot with a dynamic energy that captures the excitement and intensity of the game. But more than that, the film excels in its quieter, more intimate scenes, where the focus shifts from the public spectacle to the private struggles of its characters. The contrast between the two worlds-Diego's public persona as a soccer hero and his private battles-creates a compelling tension that drives the narrative forward.
The film also touches on the importance of mental health in sports, a topic that has gained significant attention in recent years. Through Diego's journey, we see how psychological support can be crucial in helping athletes navigate the pressures of their careers. Alex's role as a psychologist is not just to help Diego return to the field, but to help him find a sense of balance and purpose beyond the game. This aspect of the story is handled with sensitivity and realism, making it one of the most resonant themes of the film.
Another noteworthy element is the supporting cast, who add depth and nuance to the story. The club officials, teammates, and family members are not just background characters; each has their own stake in Diego's life, and their interactions with him add layers to the narrative. These relationships, whether supportive or antagonistic, highlight the complexities of Diego's world and the many forces pulling him in different directions.
*The Champion* is more than just a sports movie-it's a character study, a psychological drama, and a commentary on the cost of success in the modern sports industry. It's a film that will appeal to fans of soccer, but also to anyone who appreciates a well-crafted story about human resilience and the struggle for redemption.
In conclusion, *The Champion* is a powerful and engaging film that offers a deep dive into the psyche of a troubled athlete. Its exploration of themes like fame, mental health, and personal growth makes it a standout in the sports drama genre. The performances are strong, the direction is sharp, and the story is both timely and timeless. Whether you're a soccer enthusiast or just looking for a compelling drama, *The Champion* is definitely worth a watch.
