Plot summary

In 1930’s British India, sixteen-year-old Indira finds herself torn between true love, her duty to follow through with an arranged marriage, and the powerful allure of a mysterious guru. A FAR CRY

I don't see what other's see in this unromantic saga of Draupadi's namesake. What I see is a collection of clips spread here and there with no connection to each other.Native families were never like this in British India. What were the writers thinking?And then the swami's character. Swamis are never portrayed like this, never do they talk like this, never do they look like this and above all, never do they behave like this. A swamy coming on to a young girl! And Indira achieves freedom through this effrontery!Om chants thrown here and there; godly mantras recited awkwardly, to give the swami substance? Far from it. Such sounds are solemn, but not in this film.A total disaster!And what was the big idea in adding a note about the Quetta earthquake of 1935?
