Plot summary

After environmental activist Kharis Redwater is called back to the living world by her mother Mary Lynn after a questionable “accident” that cost Kharis her life, an ancient spirit is reborn outside of a small northern town out of revenge for the loss of her daughter’s life. Kharis returns as a Wheetago, a ferocious creature that only gets hungrier the more it eats. Can an ex-military Park Ranger, Stacy Cole, and Police Officer, Betty Stonechild, call back their traditional teachings to stop Kharis before she continues to feed on all who get in her way?

This was fun. The action kept a good

This was fun. The action kept a good pace - no lulls in the story; the effects were very good for a smaller production; the overall look was great - from scenery to makeup. I jumped. It was a treat as someone who loves all the lore, and it wasn't schmaltzy, corny or moralizing. It was crisp. Loved the female characters. It deserves a bigger audience.

Strong female leads and a story told from

Strong female leads and a story told from a native American perspective were refreshing, but unfortunately in all other ares this film fell flat. Cliche story, not-so-great acting, terrible dialogue, cheesy monster effects, awful music. It played like a bad early 2000s cop show with supernatural elements. I had high hopes considering the critics’ ratings and the story line about the Wendigo myth, but was quite disappointed.
