Plot summary

I liked this.

South African film 'Dinner To Die For' seems to be one of those films that divides opinion.I found it well made, it had nice cinematography and, when they were used, some good special effects, especially the finale. Shamilla Miller, who plays main character Hannah, was very good, the house they used for the set was beautiful and I found the concept and the small amount of humour quite engaging.On the downside, I wasn't so keen on Evan, played by Steven John Ward but I'm not sure if that was down to his acting or the huge ego of the character.Overall, it kept me watching and I wasn't bored.

Not really my cup of tea...

I virtually had no idea what I was in for here, as i sat down to watch the 2025 thriller "Dinner to Die For". But since it was a movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to check it out and give it a fair chance.Writers Orr Koren, Cameron Scott and Diana Mills Smith put together a script that sort of was a swing and a miss for me. I wasn't particularly entertained by the storyline here, and have to admit that my attention on the screen was waning as the movie trotted on.I actually don't think that I was familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list, which was something that spoke in favor of the movie. Yeah, I do actually enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen. The acting performances were good, despite the fact that the script failed to entertain me.There are some fair enough effects in the movie, though it is not a movie that casually throws special effects left and right.If you enjoy thrillers that deviate from most other thrillers, then perhaps give this movie a chance. It might just happen that you will enjoy it far more than I did as a casual viewer.My rating of director Diana Mills Smith's 2025 movie "Dinner to Die For" lands on a generous four out of ten stars.
