Plot summary

Theres and Kenneth are both young when they first meet whilst on holiday. They fall in love but are unable to prevent themselves from losing each other. Thirty years later, in another country, another couple: Ariane leaves her husband David because she no longer loves him. The paths they both take lead them to Kenneth and Theres.

Meandering and slow, The Dreamed Path never manages to ground itself in anything. There is no plot, no emotional arc, just a series of unrelated images and words grasping at a connection that never materializes.

Really hard to watch. Full of slow quiet scenes that seem to have little or nothing to do with anything. The film is prententious and fails to generate empathy with its characters.

What a pretentious stylistic exercise. Linear narratives are not always necessary but this is purposely obtuse with no interest in how the two stories interconnect. Over clarifying a films characters is not the answer either but I found no interest in these people or their ill defined motivations whatsoever. IMO, German film making at its worst.
