Karate-Robo Zaborgar is based on a 70's Japanese

Karate-Robo Zaborgar is based on a 70's Japanese TV show Denjjn Zaborgar about a crime fighter and his robot sidekick, which obviously a North American like myself wouldn't be familiar with, but from my perception, it's like an action hero story with cheesy Power Rangers styled visuals and zany over-the-top action with a classic 70's/80's vibe and modern revival too. I had a blast watching this film, it has that whacky undertone that seems to plague a lot of Asian films, which I'm not sure how to describe accurately given that it's extremely hilarious to us, but Asian audiences may perceive it differently. Either way, it works well for me that way because it leaves a lot of surprises and unexpected moments. You see, Japan is adapting a lot of their latest films from classic TV shows and manga serials, why is it so hard for American to jump back on that bandwagon as opposed to remaking the crap out of already good movies? Until Western cinema gets their shit together, I can confidently turn to Eastern cinema for excitement and laughs with films like this one.

This movie is an amazing fusion of cheesy and epic with a little wonky and absurd thrown in for good measure. A perfect parody of the genre.
