A beautifully crafted, suspensful drama that kept me on the edge of my seat! I wish more movies had this type of masterful pacing and consistent acting, telling an intricate story about small-town lives that keeps things on slow broil.

I recently watched Death Letter Blues and was blown away by this film—a riveting and complex plot, the layers of the intersecting stories weave together in a dynamic and compelling way, right until the last frame of the film.  Sherman Alexei is fabulous as the central character of the priest, grappling with morality while dealing with the various people who cross his path and enter his life.  There is a mysterious death of a young man that drives the plot, but it's in the human relationships as each grapples with this event that makes this film so intriguing.  I had to see this film again, and appreciated it all the more the second time!  The art direction is superb—so beautifully crafted, and so brilliant in the way the themes of the film are accentuated through the choice of each shot.  This is storytelling at its best—fine acting, engrossing plot, sophisticated camera work, fabulous sound and music choices. The fact that these filmmakers are so early in their careers is astounding.  This is a mature piece of work, and I look forward to what they will do next.
