Plot summary

Poor girl meets rich boy as they quarrel over a stinky tofu seller's once a year delicacy. His brother pays her to marry the brother so he can stage an assassination attempt. The attempt doesn't succeed but the man is reduced to the level of an idiot child and the girl looks after him because of her guilt. She nurses him back to health so that he can resume his place as head of the family.

Mid-1990s (or 1997, exactly) was the watershed to Hong Kong in every aspect, including the entertainment business. As for Hong Kong Cinema, differences (alias: shift!) were obvious & huge on systems like studios, directing/writing, actors (or stardom, precisely), quality & quantity, scale & style, market's reaction, etc etc. < Only Fools Fall In Love > was just another example indicating the stuck-situation of the industry back then.
