This is a fairly interesting, minimal-budget affair. It

This is a fairly interesting, minimal-budget affair. It is pure exploitation (with copious reference to current media, political trends and conspiracy theory) which mixes faux-documentary, intellectual thriller and creepy, occult horror somewhat successfully. There are some bits that are slow with a lot of expository dialogue and not much to look at, but they do lead to engaging concepts, with good production value providing a genuine sense of dread. It forces a choice between getting lost in the dark woods or being caught in an apocalyptic nightmare, with something purposefully feeding on your fear no matter where you end up. The boundaries between waking life and nightmare become permanently blurry. Or is it all just a test? Unique and effective.

A rare movie that makes you think.

I'm tired of all those superhero movies thats a mismatch of cgi and horribly written characters. Cult of nightmares is raw, and really makes you think about life and the world around you. To question what is real and what isnt. I love the creativity, something hollywood lacks these days. One of my favourite "cult" movies. Its a classic. The acting is also superb. I know its an independent film, but the writing and acting is top notch. The make up is also fantastic, anothet thing hollywood shys from. Prosthetics and real makeup instead of cg. Its just adds so much more realism to the film. Cant recommend this movie enough.
