Plot summary

Survivors of the bloody "theatre massacre" years earlier must fight for their lives as members of their psychiatric hospital's therapy support group begin falling prey to an unseen psychopath. Deep secrets are uncovered and old friendships are tested as they realize the killer may actually be much closer to them than they ever thought possible.

Absolutely awful POS

Cruel Summer 3 is, in my experience, one of the most aggressively disappointing horror films I have ever sat through, and I don't use that kind of language lightly. It doesn't function as a horror movie at all, despite clearly trying to wear that label. There is no real sense of fear, no sustained atmosphere of dread, and no payoff for the time it asks from the audience. Instead of tension or terror, the film gives you endless stretches of talking that feel more like a badly written stage rehearsal than a cinematic experience.What makes it even more frustrating is how dialogue-heavy the movie is, but not in a way that feels intelligent or purposeful. The conversations drag on and on without moving the story forward, and the pacing becomes almost unbearable. The extended couch scene, in particular, feels like a test of patience rather than a meaningful character moment. You sit there waiting for something - anything - to happen, but the film seems more interested in hearing itself talk than actually telling a story.The casting is another major misstep. The performances feel mismatched and uncomfortable, as if the actors themselves were unsure what kind of movie they were even in. Nothing feels natural, nothing feels grounded, and nothing feels scary. For a film that bills itself as horror, there is a complete lack of urgency, fear, or emotional realism from the people on screen. It creates a disconnect that makes it nearly impossible to care about what's happening or who it's happening to.The screenplay is where the film truly collapses. It feels unfocused, badly structured, and completely unaware of what makes horror effective. Horror thrives on visual storytelling, on tension, on what is seen and what is implied. This film ignores all of that in favor of monotonous, overwritten dialogue that feels like a constant punch in the face to anyone who understands how genre filmmaking works. Every scene feels longer than it should be, and none of them feel earned.What bothered me most is that the film seems convinced it is doing something deep or meaningful, when in reality it feels lazy and poorly constructed. There are no credible scare sequences, no memorable visual moments, and no emotional core. It simply drifts from one awkward, drawn-out scene to another without ever giving the audience a reason to stay engaged. It becomes a chore to get through, rather than an experience to be absorbed by.By the end of Cruel Summer 3, I felt genuinely annoyed that I'd invested time into it, because it never rewarded the viewer in any meaningful way. This is one of those movies that feels like it should be locked away and forgotten, not because it's daring, but because it fails on nearly every basic level of storytelling. As far as horror goes, it stands as one of the worst experiences I've had, offering nothing of value, nothing memorable, and nothing that would make me ever want to revisit it.

This is the best movie so far of the trilogy! Although they are all awesome! Wonderful writing, directing, and the actors were phenomenal! Is Gunnar really dead? Sgt. Jake Fasano is amazing in this movie. He is troubled by the outcome of Gunnar's rein of terror from the first two movies and can't seem to find peace in his life because he is convinced that Gunnar isn't really dead and that he faked his death. The survivors from the previous movies are in this one as well. They are trying to get over their trauma and put Gunnar in their rear view mirror. But is that even possible? Watch the movie and you will find out. This is a must see for all horror fans!!!

Must see horror movie!

This is the best movie so far of the trilogy! Although they are all awesome! Wonderful writing, directing, and the actors were phenomenal! Is Gunnar really dead? Sgt. Jake Fasano is amazing in this movie. He is troubled by the outcome of Gunnar's rein of terror from the first two movies and can't seem to find peace in his life because he is convinced that Gunnar isn't really dead and that he faked his death. The survivors from the previous movies are in this one as well. They are trying to get over their trauma and put Gunnar in their rear view mirror. But is that even possible? Watch the movie and you will find out. This is a must see for all horror fans!!!
