Plot summary

It is Christmas 1908 in Messina, one of the richest merchant cities of the Mediterranean. Peter, the 13 year-old son of a rich English family is notorious for his cruelty to children, animals and servants. One night he is ambushed and wakes up in a coffin underground in the city's Gothic cemetery, buried in retaliation for his callousness by a servant boy from his mother's estate. When a powerful earthquake razes Messina to the ground, Peter is trapped and his whereabouts are forgotten. Until a century later an English archaeologist and his daughter arrive in the city.

I thought it was a good movie. it

i thought it was a good movie. it had a lot of old world atmosphere. i would have liked to see more character development. as it was , great acting from everyone. maybe just a bit too much story in such a little run time. the whole idea, which i think is awesome, would benefit more as a trilogy put in theaters over a three year period. and it can still be done!!! considering all the nonsense out today, i have much respect for this movie, the actors, writers, everyone. good job!!

Considering the movie is called Cruel Peter, we see very little of him. Instead we just get a story of witches and people being possessed. The potential was there, but I think the target was missed.

It seemed like the movie was gonna be

It seemed like the movie was gonna be based on horror clichés but it does have its original moments. Unfortunately the whole film is destroyed by the directors choice to use a dark filter throughout the movie. Although it gives it character and creates a scary atmosphere from a point on you can literally see nothing but total blackness in the screen! You get bored because you take guesses of what had just happened, the scaryness flies away and is replaced by laughter and frustration. I give it 2 stars because the story is fine, it is based on good ideas, it stars good actors and generally it could be a fun watch if someone just re-edited the whole film and stripped it from its blackness. In that case it would take 3,5 stars. Really hard to watch now....
