Plot summary

Former student Raskolnikov is pushed to murder when struggling to pay the rent on his apartment. When the murder is being investigated by the police, Raskolnikov struggles between trying to hide his guilt and the pressure to confess.

Watch the b/w soviet production from 1970, you can find it free and with subtitles with a little hunting. Better still read the book. This effort captures nothing of the layers of emotion, humanity, and pyschological tension of one the greatest novels ever written.

Few films are as poorly acted by so many otherwise talented actors and actresses. So by all mean watch this mess of a film if only to see what a film of excruciatingly poor quality is like.
