Of course I had never even heard about this 2021 movie titled "Crack House of the Dead" as I stumbled upon it here in 2025. And given my love of all things zombie, of course I opted to check out what writer and director Jason Toler had to offer. I have to admit though, in all honesty, that I had zero expectations to the movie given its title. The storyline was pretty straightforward, even for a zombie movie. But it was a somewhat boring and never really latched unto me, and that made it a boring movie experience to sit through.Needless to say that I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. And that was actually the best thing about the movie. The acting performances in "Crack House of the Dead" were fair, though hardly anything noteworthy to be seen.It never ceases to amaze me when the special effects team and make-up team doesn't have a sense of realism to their bones. I mean, the first infected you see in the movie turning, well she goes from looking normal to looking gaunt instantly.Something that worked in favor of the movie, though it didn't stand a chance against all the shortcomings of the movie, were the special effects. Now, hold on, this is not "The Walking Dead" special effects, but for a low budget movie such as it was, then the special effects were actually not too bad.The quality of the movie was terrible. I am sure that they opted to put that filter on deliberately, in order to make it look like an old VHS tape. But come on, it just grew very annoying pretty quickly, and it sort of took away from the overall enjoyment of the movie. This movie is pretty terrible, even for a low budget zombie movie. If you enjoy zombie movies, do yourself a massive favor and stay well clear of this train wreck. It just simply isn't worth the effort. My rating of writer and director Jason Toler's 2021 movie "Crack House of the Dead" lands on a very, very generous two out of ten stars.
