Hallmark movie but seemed believable, outside of the guy “ following”family writing article! The family was beautiful, I liked the love connections, the main characters were charming. I’m still watching, so let’s see what happens at the end.

“Christmas with a Kiss” had so much potential

“Christmas with a Kiss” had so much potential, and I really wanted to love it. From the very start, I was hooked when the lead character goes on a date with a guy she’s been connecting with, only for him to break up with her because he’s reconciling with his ex-wife. I thought this was setting up for a delightful and entertaining story where new characters would enter her life and spark a beautiful romance. Unfortunately, I was mistaken! Instead, we end up with a captivating female lead who seems to have a parade of suitors. It would have been fine if she weren't juggling them all at the same time. She leaves Fletcher but continues to flirt with Dez, which undermines the premise of her being heartbroken and searching for love upon returning to her hometown. The plot introduces a news reporter who initially plans to write a negative story about her family but ultimately falls for her, which sounds promising. However, she’s also caught up in a confusing on-again, off-again relationship with her high school ex, who feels more like an afterthought than a meaningful character. His casting felt off; he just didn’t fit in with the rest of the film, which was a missed opportunity for a more suitable actor. While Dez was well-cast, his role felt underwhelming, and he didn't seem to play a crucial part in the narrative despite being central to the plot. The resolution regarding the mistrust and the article felt rushed and poorly executed. She went from hating him to suddenly falling in love with him again, which left the story feeling disjointed. The initial setup was promising, but the rushed ending made it hard to stay invested. I went from being excited about the story to feeling let down by the film as a whole. It was frustrating to watch a movie with so much potential devolve into something that missed the mark.

This movie’s writing was a hot mess. Spoiler alerts. Mona in the start of the movies says she just chooses the wrong guys. Man does she choose the wrong one in the end. Dez is a snake and brings nothing to the table. He first disses Mona’s career, gets way too comfortable with Mona’s family way too quick and with Mona’s nephews to the point it is weird and awkward that he seems to be parenting the boys. He is there on false pretenses to write a horrible hate article on the family. All while this is happening Mona’s high school love Fletcher who is ten times better than Dez is trying to win Mona back and does it in the most respectful and kind way. They then make some awkward choices towards the end with Fletchers character to try and paint him as the wrong guy to then try and paint Dez as the right one. It’s so off base and weird. The chemistry with Feltcher and Mona is top tier then you have this clown Dez in the mix who intervenes too much. Also the family and sister are weirdly against Fletcher and are all hyped about the snake Dez. I just don’t get it. This was absolutely the wrong way to go with this story, complete trash.
