Despite all the negative comments, this is an amazing movie with a nicely fresh take on the mythology of the villain character. Now, I understand how those that loved the original might feel unkindly about this. It took me years to get over my prejudice towards the Battlestar Galactica Reboot and I will never forgive DC for taking away 'my' Legion of Super-Heroes and replacing it with a never-ending number of reboots. But let's be fair ... This was well written, well acted, well filmed and original take on the 'killer doll' genre. 3 years Before M3gan.
People's mistake is comparing it to the original....This is a good movie. Megan is the SAME exact movie and everybody loved it. Why? There was no original to compare it to....
I was skeptical about this reboot. The new Chucky is too ugly. The story's relevance of technology in the movie is apt. I like how Andy's friends are there for him until the end. The mom is a badass. Never mess with her kid. Period. Catchy horror lullaby especially when Chucky was singing in the end, "We are best buddies until the end. More than just buddies, we are best friends. Don't ever leave me. Please don't say goodbye. I'll be yours 'til the day you die." Then you hear him laughing a bit. Creepy, a little out of tune, Chucky. Overall, you get the message of how evil this doll is. This is not a must-watch movie but I recommend it for the horror enthusiast.
Unintentionally funny most of the time. Mark Hamill steals the show and makes it worth the effort, even if it's hard to watch reboots of loved franchises while not picking everything apart. Still worth at least one viewing, for it's "pop culture relevance", even with more cons than pros.
I loved it! 8 out of 10. Made me laugh and feel creeped out in the same movie, it's a hard thing to achieve. Go in as a new movie, not as a remake. They really made the story theirs!
