Plot summary

Wealthy industrialist and fierce isolationist Daniel Grudge, long embittered by the loss of his son in World War II, is visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve who lead him to reconsider his attitude toward his fellow man.

I can understand why critics in 1964 might

I can understand why critics in 1964 might have thought of this as a bit much. Unfortunately, it is much more relevant and believable in 2025!! The threat of nuclear war, inequality and world hunger, displaced persons, social division, isolation, and hatred, the appeal of fascism (Peter Sellers' ME/MAGA hat!!), environmental destruction--it becomes alarming to realize that all of these have remained unsolved and indeed worsened since then. Rod Serling was being prophetic. The acting, by the way, was outstanding. Watch it and think about it. Time is running out.

Even though the movie was, as others have

Even though the movie was, as others have said, a bit talky and some scenes felt like they went on too long, it spoke so eloquently about the human existence and was a reminder of how things don't change; only the years change. A movie made in 1964 is beyond relevant in 2025. Will we ever learn from our past mistakes? So far, it doesn't appear that we will. Rod Serling was an amazing writing and the dialogue is truly phenomenal. It is hard to watch and listen to at times, yet it is compelling as it tells a story that is full of truth and hard realities.
