Plot summary

Carmen is a gypsy teenager, destined to live a life that is repeated every generation: getting married and raising as many children as possible. But one day she meets Lola, an uncommon gypsy who dreams about going to university, does graffiti and is very different. Carmen quickly develops a complicity with Lola and discovers a world that, inevitably, leads them to be rejected by their families.

Moving movie about love I saw this movie

Moving movie about love I saw this movie pop up on Netflix, and naturally, since my name is Carmen, had to watch it. I don’t remember the last time I cried so much during a movie. It was really well acted, slow without being boring, and though I live in Spain I had previously no inkling of the difficulties for same sex relationships in Romani culture. I will think about this movie for a long time to come.

After some obstacles two young roma girls fall in love with each other. It's an unmentionable taboo in the traditional roma world. Very realistic and purely portrayed and filmed and not provocative. Expertly made and with a lot of daring, just by choosing this loaded topic.
