Plot summary

True Heart Bear and Noble Heart Horse touch down on Earth to boost the spirits of some unhappy kids at summer camp. But the evil Dark Heart has other plans, and convinces one of the campers to help him capture the Care Bears.

I was born in 1987 and grew up

I was born in 1987 and grew up as a very young one watching this movie on repeat (my choice). Going back and watching as an adult I am floored how it helped shape my development -- the lessons in it directly track with who I am today, someone who cares a huge amount and who (at least used to, before becoming jaded) sees/believes in the goodness in others. Yes, it watches cheesy as an adult, it's not like today's kids movies with all the nods and winks at the adults, but it's for young children. I did not cringe once, I grinned and laughed, and my eyes even watered up a few times. These are beautiful lessons, reminiscent of Mr. Rogers (not surprising - same era), lessons we need today.

Honestly this is a kids movie that you

Honestly this is a kids movie that you watch with your kids. Yes there isn't anything for the adults to enjoy but this is a kids movie with good messages that your kids might ask you questions about. (Spoilers!!) The fact that there is a redemption arc to this movie is enough where I talked to my kid about the fact that not all bad guys/bullies are bad but sometimes they need something, and sometimes they are just missing something out of their lives. Also that some people are just going to be bad (we ain't rose colored glasses here). The important thing is there is a very good message about caring for others in this movie. While there might be some parts that concern/scare your child (as they should) those moments are short lived but that's why you are there for them.
