Plot summary

A fallen WWI American soldier strikes a divine bargain to reunite with his bride in England. As he resumes life unaware he's a ghost, love and loss blur. When Annabel learns the truth-now carrying his child-she must face heartbreak and find the strength to let him go.

Ten out of ten.

I loved this movie. Already watched it twice, and cried both times. Such a beautiful love story. The connection between Annabelle and Samual is quite something.I don't usually go for war films (my husband chose this one), and whilst WW1 was a strong theme, this was much more a romance - the poster doesn't do it justice.

Best avoided

This is a real clunker of a movie. The script seems to have come straight out of one of Barbara Cartland's worst novels (and let's face it, most of them were pretty terrible) with horribly overwrought, clichéd and quite frankly laughable dialogue. How on earth the actors kept a straight face filming this is beyond me. I can only imagine they were thinking of their pay cheques - it certainly wasn't their reputation!Whoever was responsible for casting the main female character also needs to reconsider a career change. Whilst she's undoubtedly a pretty lass, choosing a lead actress with peroxide hair, badly fitted wigs, false nails, heavy make up and *ahem* certain surgical enhancements, doesn't exactly shout Edwardian England.If you want something to ridicule, then this is the movie for you, otherwise I wouldn't bother wasting 90 minutes of your life you'll never get back.
