Plot summary

Based on the best-selling religious studies book by Joseph Atwill, this documentary shows that Jesus is not a historical figure, the events of Jesus' life were based on a Roman military campaign, his supposed second coming refers to an event that already occurred, and the Gospels were written by a family of Caesars who left us documents to prove it. Besides Atwill, six other controversial Bible scholars weigh in, showing that the teachings of Christ came from the ancient pagan mystery schools, and that Christianity was used as a political tool to control the masses of the day and is still being used this way today.

I guess it really IS the end times

I guess it really IS the end times. Y'know, according to the Fatima prophesy, Benedict XVI is the second-to-last pope. This film is very well edited and the interviews were well lit, etcetera, etc... But it really needs to be said that the producers leave the viewer to reflect on the implications of this discovery, yet it doesn't seem to promote an agenda. Most docs of this nature push a fanatical bend that not only turns off viewers but makes that filmmaker look like a nut. Caesar's Messiah is decidedly non-nutty and Joseph Atwill presents his findings in a clear fashion which doesn't have a 'I HAZ DA TROOTH!!' feel about it. I'm glad someone finally found this out. The sad thing is that it's been in plain sight this whole time.

This is practically a hoax. I guess the book this "documentary" is based on supports the demented theory, which is pure unsupported speculation. The scholars featured read facts from tea-leaves, connect people named Flavio/a as all being part of the conspiracy because they are called Flavio/a, ignore that the Romans crucified Jesus as a criminal and horribly tortured the first Christians, save themselves any and all analysis of the actual Gospels, have no texts whatsoever to prove anything at all ,whilst decrying the lack of historicity of the Gospels, don't even mention Paul ( executed by the Romans ) and concoct a ridiculous theory whose shallowness leaves out all we know about the Gospels as well as the mighty real scholarship of true experts. The heavy reliance on Josephus as a "proves-all" source is misguided. Yes, historical evidence is hard to come by in the literary sources, but why would Romans create four ( or many more) Gospels that contradict each other? Which Flavians of very different literacy levels were allegedly occupied with writing the Christian Gospels between, say, the 60 AD and 100 AD? Finally, the "mythicist" claim - that Jesus didn't exist and was invented - is shot by actual written testimony from Roman historians like Tacitus. The mind boggling fact that so many lay people liked this absurd concoction only shows ignorance, a blind religious hunger for anything ( anything!) to do with Jesus or, to the contrary, seek to affirm their own "mythicist" credo ,and a penchant for believing the most outrageous fiction. Worrisome.

GREAT QUESTION, FRINGE CONCLUSION!

The Idea behind this video was a great idea. Problem is when you ask a question you need to take all emotion out of the process. Anyone with a library card can find out that the christian bible is not JUST a religious book. Many "non religious" high schools and collages use the book as a historic tool. The book goes far beyond Jesus and his teachings. My views are far from aligned with any church and I can even see that the "project" was just an attempt to sling a few arrows at anyone that has faith. People get so emotional when they talk about how Jesus was fake, and then say they don't believe. I don't believe in ghosts ether but when people tell me the have stories I don't get emotional about it. People lie to themselves and find it necessary to get other people to do the same so they can feel like they are living true. Its hard for people that spend so much time talking about how something is NOT REAL, the emotion you put behind it ends up making it real, just in a different way. It sneaks up behind you and has total control before you even know what you are doing. I think that was much of the driving force behind the making of this video.
