Plot summary

In a hot and politically challenged Cairo actress Aida and her neighbor, the aging diva Samiha, are thrown out on the streets. Together with the street smart Yassin, they try to find a place to live, forcing them to confront with their past.

Could Have Been, But Isn't

The premise is interesting in itself - if it had been properly developed without all that pretentious 'imaginary' and 'stage-play' scenes it could have been a compelling drama.As it is, it's just wandering around with stilted plot and character development further disrupted by pointless scenes of silly pretentions.The role of the elderly neighbor is very well acted, with uneven acting from the rest of the cast. Dialogue also veers from well-written with a natural flow, to being amateurish.If it had been a more experienced director who is able to focus on proper plot and character development, instead of one who is more keen on silly pretentions (perhaps to mask a lack of talent), this would have been a memorable movie, instead of a wasted amateurish experiment as it now is.
