Una película de slasher y comedia que agrega elementos cuestionables y no logra brillar a pesar de su ambientación. Se basa más en ser un homenaje que otra cosa.
"Brute 1976" es una entrega difícil de ver por su planteamiento, la cual hace todo el intento por dar una sorpresa, pero no lo logra. Es un filme que se basa más en brindar un homenaje (incluso desde su poster) que dar una originalidad sustentable, la misma toma elementos de cintas viejas con la finalidad de establecer una conexión con el espectador, pero, ¿realmente funciona? En mi experiencia, en lo absoluto, pero respeto a quien sí. Es una película que se argumenta en lo absurdo, forzado y exagerado de manera innecesaria, hago énfasis en que a pesar de su contexto sobre el género slasher, sus ejecuciones en el recorrido son totalmente pírricas. No generan algo más que decepción y pena ajena.
El filme no tiene miedo de reflejar su inspiración, de hecho, lo plasma en los diálogos de los personajes y en esa ligera comedia agregada en las interpretaciones. Aun así, tomar elementos de "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" y "The Hills Have Eyes" y no llevarlos de manera sustentable y/o desperdiciar esa oportunidad ya es otro punto debatible con respecto a sus atribuciones de elaboración.
El director Marcel Walz hace su mejor trabajo para otorgar algo entretenido, lo cual, puede ser posible. Aplica encuadres representativos del género y se puede decir que está bien, aunque no sorprenda. Cuestionables por diversas escenas, pero todo depende de tus expectativas. Sin duda alguna pudo ser mejor todo lo relacionado a su trabajo.
"Brute 1976" tiene elementos dentro de su guion que la hacen debatible. Se aplican giros de tramas un tanto absurdos, poco creíbles y con falta de profundidad, ya sea en sus personajes o la historia en general. Acá no hay un interés establecido que fomente esa conexión entre espectador y personajes, realmente te da igual lo que suceda. Las diferentes "matices" que se implementan parecen una burla incluso para sus mismos personajes. Por otro lado, todo es predecible, posee muchas inseguridades, no explota esa oportunidad con sus inspiraciones, hay agujeros de guion y el convencionalismo está presente en todo momento. Es una cinta que ni como slasher o comedia puedas salvar.
Dentro de sus aspectos cinematográficos solamente puedo destacar su ambientación. Es el único punto que tomado con pinzas pueda tener una ejecución decente, del resto es para sentarse en la mesa de debate. Con respecto a las interpretaciones, pues, es una agonía total, supongo que hacen lo mejor que pueden con ese enfoque de comedia, pero ni dentro de ese concepto logran aportar algo destacable. Se sienten vacías, planas, sencillas, forzadas, exageradas y muy mediocres a verdad. Quizá la actriz Dazelle Yvette (Mama Birdy) fue la única que entendió el concepto forzado de su personaje.
La película intenta abordar mensajes sobre la traición, el engaño, la dobles personalidades, el bienestar propio, la manipulación, la falta de comunicación, la pérdida de la cordura, la representación de la muerte o el mal, y ese enfoque de psicopatía, pero no logra explotar de buena manera cada concepto establecido, siendo así, otro desperdicio dentro de su experiencia. Desecha ese potencial por la borda.
Aunado a ello, el filme posee una gran cantidad de errores de continuidad y errores en los argumentos de los diálogos, los cuales disminuyen aún más el intento de esta película. Muchas de esas fallas son tan evidentes que no te lo puedes creer. Acá la idea es no tomarte en serio esta producción porque el resultado puede ser insatisfactorio en mayúsculas.

The cinematography was decent but the characters pretty forgettable and rather bland performances along with the script. **2.0/5**

This "Movie" is pure garbage. There's the short version.The more detailed version would be that this "Movie" is just a VERY badly done copy of other classic horror films put into a blender with their 20 percent of original ideas and poured into a pan and over baked until it looked like it failed on re-entry.Example. If I was to say, do you remember that memorable scene at the end of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"? Well the brains behind this movie remembered it...and made sure to do it at least three times.The script was written by a 10 year old...or an actual adult with the mentality of a 10 year old. The editing is a joke and a lot of scenes needed to end 2-5 seconds sooner, but I'm guessing they wanted this "Movie" to have a longer run time.Example. The set up for the first two kills are blatant immaturity and work way too hard to be edgy, when it would have been way easier to do a better job while maintaining maturity.The soundtrack must have been found at Dollar General since it's so cheap and generic. Clearly none of the budget went here. Imagine hearing your most overused horror "setting the mood" clip and then have it on replay for 90 percent of the film. Hell, one scene would have been way more effective if the blaring background sound wasn't basically saying "Hey, look over here!" I guess they didn't think that the audience would find it on their own. When they did (and they would have) the effect would have been a lot more creepy.I'll throw in some positives since it does have a few. The cinematography is pretty well done most of the time. Whomever was behind the camera knew what they were doing (cannot be bothered to look it up). Hopefully they don't work with this writer/director ever again, since they deserve better.Adriane McLean and Dazelle Yvette were the stars here. I felt sorry for their performances since the others were borderline okay to down right horrible.I knew this "Movie" was going to be garbage within the first five minutes. Once you see where the plot goes (which is continuously into a brick wall, over and over again), my "10 year old" comment will make perfect sense. If you want to test your knowledge for what a movie should NOT do, then this "Movie" is for you. Although I can think of better things to do with that 1 hour and 40 minutes.Oh, and those two high star reviews (1 9 Stars and 1 10 Stars) are clearly from the cast. Who they are is a mystery but they definitely are from the cast (an unfortunate recurring bad trait on this site).
