It's easy to feel despondent or even despairing

It's easy to feel despondent or even despairing about human greed and selfishness and stupidity that we witness on the news every day. Then you see these young, energetic, well-informed heroes from PETA's Community Animal Project (CAP), going out every day (and often every night) to be faced with the most horrendous abuse or neglect, and yet remaining determined to bring whatever comfort, joy and justice they can to suffering dogs, cats and other animals. Seeing them do such a gruelling job, while still retaining their professionalism and even their smiles, restores my faith that there is good in people. If they can live in hope, we all can. One quote from the video stayed with me: "The people who criticise us are not the people whom we help". Certainly the dogs chained up in yards who are, for the first time, given some shelter from the elements, warm straw to snuggle in, and a kind word and a hug from a PETA CAP worker, would agree.

This documentary was a roller coaster of emotions

This documentary was a roller coaster of emotions, and I was in tears for most of it. It is devastating, enlightening, hopeful, heartbreaking and happy all at the same time. Like seeing humans living in extreme poverty, the harsh reality of how so many companion animals live will be shocking to those who haven't witnessed it firsthand, but the compassion shown by PETA's fieldworkers for these animals and their guardians will restore your faith in humanity. I highly recommend this film to anyone even tangentially interested in animals and their lives.
