CREEM (the documentary) chronicles America's "other" rock 'n' roll magazine, focusing on its history, deep Detroit connection, and cultural impact. For all its celebration of an unconventional magazine, however, the documentary itself is surprisingly straightforward, and spends too much time on staff in-fighting and embittered memories at the expense of highlighting more about the mag's writing and journalistic approach—which, they tell us, is a big part of what made it so great.
