Plot summary

For reasons unknown, a flautist and an astronomer find themselves drawn to one another. But, when the flautist stumbles upon a secret regarding his late father, the two wind up in a celestial duel against the ancient Master Flautist for earth's future.

A musical master Djinn wants to melt the earth. Only an astronomer and flutist stand in his way. Another surrealist art horror film for my mental collection. Many describe this as "Jodorowsky by way of Islamic mysticism." Seems apt. Like many of the films I enjoy it sports a disjointed narrative in favor of dream logic. Unlike many of those other films, that narrative is too disjointed. This is likely due to working with no script and improvisation from the director. Still, I enjoyed the film due to it's dive into Islamic folklore (which I know little) and the amazing cinematography shot on location in Turkey. The stark beauty of the thermal pools of Pamukkale (never seen before by me) and jagged rock formations infuses the film with dread. Those shots alone bump up my rating. Some criticize the ending battle but I thought it was bonkers good.

I see where this film was going with

I see where this film was going with the symbolism and tone (Or at least one way you could interpret it). I feel like there were great visuals, music, and lore that made you excited for the film to pick up and become a film... It never really got there for me. It felt like they built up a story but didn't tie together the knots in a compelling or satisfying way.

Bizarre English/Turkish production about a flutist that is

Bizarre English/Turkish production about a flutist that is searching for the master musician in Turkey. Being a supernatural story I guess it doesn't have to make complete sense, very strange characters fill the screen. The ending seemed thrown together at the last second, which will leave you feeling underwelmed. Either way highly original and does offer some decent scares.
