Plot summary

When Ah Bu, a girl from a small fishing town in Taiwan, finds a glass bottle with a romantic message, she travels to Hong Kong to find her prince charming. As it turns out, her prince charming, Albert, happens to be gay. But all is not lost when Ah Bu meets the dashing Chi Wu. Meanwhile, Ah Bu's boyfriend from Taiwan comes looking for her, as the action and romance follow Ah Bu back to Taiwan.

When I watched "Love Hurts" earlier in the

When I watched "Love Hurts" earlier in the year, it made it look impossible to combine action, comedy & romance, but way back in 1999, Vincent Kok directed & co-wrote "Gorgeous" with Jackie Chan & they successfully combined all three genres.  Understandably, Jackie Chan is the standout star as the man is an action superstar who has a great ability to be comedic, yet "Gorgeous" belongs to his co-star, Shu Qi. Shu Qi brings an innocent & playful charm to her role that brightens up the performances that revolve around her even that of Tony Leung, a legend of Hong Kong cinema.  The action sequences are memorable, mainly down to the two fights between Jackie Chan & the late Brad Allan. The sequences are a joy to watch & fast paced due to showmanship from two talented martial artists.
