A fascinating exploration of the ways in which

A fascinating exploration of the ways in which movies influence us. This film looks the dynamic between audience and subject, drawing on the images of Edweard Muybridge, the influence of the Hay's Code, and the sexual revolution. The cinematic representations of sex and sexuality are examined along with their influence on contemporary western gender roles around sexual engagement and expectations. So many interesting actors and directors (and others) share their experience dealing with on-set complexities, gendered writing, and the role of intimacy coordinators. This could have been a series, it covers so much.

Framed as an unbiased examination of the nude

Framed as an unbiased examination of the nude Female form in cinema, Body Parts proves itself less a documentary than an indictment of the state of modern feminist dogma; confused, unwilling to accept, much less understand the laws of human attraction, inherently critical and petty. The entire film can be summarized in three sentences: "Pretty girls get the attention, homely girls get ignored; and it's not right", "Men want to see the nude Female form and that makes them evil" and finally "Since historically, nude scenes in cinematic history only focus on traditional Male/Female gender roles, those identifying outside those traditional gender roles feel under represented and marginalized". Body Parts is eighty-five minutes of naive feminist complaint, "It's not fair", all while knowing, but willfully ignoring the concept that sex sells. Always has, and as long as Men on this planet see Women as attractive; always will.

A terrific look behind the scenes of sex in the movies - 8.5/10

A real education for mature film buffs. Who knew so much went into creating sex scenes in movies?

Who knew there were sex scene choreographers and rehearsals?

Who knew body doubles were used so very extensively (one actress sounds like she's been the body double for about a dozen A-listers)?

Who knew how much legal, contractual protection is now provided to insure women are no longer abused (and good god, it's a lot of protection!)?

Who knew actresses can now contract for what they will do and won't do - and precisely how much they will and won't show?

Who knew how some sex acts can be so plausibly faked?

Who knew actresses will have agents on-set to insure their rights are protected?

Who knew about all the different cosmetic appliances used in sex scenes?

You'll never look at a sex scene the same way again.
