Plot summary

Desperate for work, Derek accepts a job replacing his recently-deceased friend at a tech startup. Continuing to develop the company's innovative project means working intimately with Susan, a bleeding-edge BDSM sex doll meant to receive and appreciate punishment as an integral part of her evolving AI. Derek will soon test the limits of his own desires and explore the nature of man and woman, pleasure and pain, and life and death in a morally uncertain future world.

This film has strong late night cable B-movie

This film has strong late night cable B-movie vibes, with the low-budget sets and lighting, cheesy music, excessive sex and nudity, and sometimes lame dialog. And yet, it deals with some pretty heady themes. What raises this movie above pure B-movie titillation is the moral questions raised. Is it better for abusers to indulge in their compulsions with AI simulations of real victims than to hope to catch them, almost always after they’ve committed real acts of brutality? Is this in itself a monstrous misuse of technology that will simply amplify this behavior rather than channel it in a controlled way? Will a male with an otherwise non-abusive personality eventually become abusive given the right set of circumstances? Is it morally acceptable to behave violently toward an inanimate object that represents a conscious being? How can we know when an AI simulation stops being a machine and starts to become conscious?

Waste of time unless you’re into dreadful performances along with mostly gratuitous scenes meant to shock you. Nothing rewarding about this film.

B movie explotation that makes it difficult to watch.

Sorry, was intrigued by what I read early on about this one---but It doesn't deliver the goods, but instead just takes on a dark kink aura with a propensity to showcase some (perceived), and also displayed graphic violence towards a female android/robot.Got brutal enough and graphic enough for me to barely finish but slogged through as it's thankfully a short enough run time. It's not thought provoking or interesting but has that uneasy "uneven dynamic" at times that you may have seen in some early exploitation horror films (ISOYG), say, from the 80s...that are just replacing the final girl/rape victim with a artifical intelligence. Seeing some of these positive reviews gives me little hope for fans of this sort of garbage. Even with the female lead actress, being a real person, it wasn't selling what it was offering to me, that's for sure. File next to "rape-y/beaten woman movie if the week"Sad that warped enough people exist to recommend this in a public forum. Trash gets trash.
