Plot summary

Ben Dobbs is a lonely college student who has never had dreams of any kind. This all changes for Ben and he start having a series of sequential and terrifying nightmares that become true in his waking life. As he reaches out for help, he is also expanding the net his nightmare demon is spreading for new victims. Ben’s challenge is to survive this new surrealistic world Beyond Dream’s Door.

A freshman effort from longtime B-horror director Jay

A freshman effort from longtime B-horror director Jay Woelfel made while he was a student at Ohio State University and featuring a cast compromised by other students and faculty from the school. Clearly shot on a student budget and frequently clunky and over-written, with special effects that now look terribly crude and outdated. Still, there are clearly some good ideas here and it would be interesting to see what could be done with this screenplay given a real budget and modern technology. The plot centers on a demon that stalks and kills dreamers who have forgotten their dreams; there may be some Lovecraft influence here, though only in diluted measure. The flaws are obvious, but they leave enough to make the film watchable and only a little bit unintentionally funny, mainly due to the earnest performances and really, really bad poetry.
