@HubcapDiamond: When you say original, are you refering to the 1925 version, directed by Fred Niblo, Charles Brabin and J.J. Cohn? Because if you mean the 1959 version with Charlton Heston, that was also a remake. Personally, and given the fact that all the film versions of this story are based on the same novel, I do not regard them as remakes but rather new adaptations of the same source material. Some are better than others - the 1959 version is absolutely perfect, the 2016 version is absolutely horrible -, but this mini-series from 2010 is actually pretty good and very faithful to the novel. I thought I was going to hate it, being a huge fan of the Charlton Heston version, and was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it. If you haven't watched it yet, give it a try.

Please do "Hagoku 2017"

Just watch the original. Remaking this was a supreme act of hubris.

I really enjoyed this film! 8/10! Very long, but enjoyable!

Thanks FREEMAN.
