Plot summary

It's Valentine's Day again and Charlie Brown dreams the seemingly hopeless dream to receiving a valentine from anyone. All the while, the rest of the gang have their own trials whether it be Linus' struggle to get the biggest card he can for his beloved teacher, or Lucy trying to get some token from Schroeder while Snoopy and Woodstock are having fun spearing valentines on each other's nose.

50 years old and this is another one of the best known tv specials featuring the beloved characters by Charles M. Schulz, Lee Mendelson, and Bill Melendez We’ve all had unrequited love in our lives, felt that rejection, and loneliness The popular Peanuts comics never explored that but here in this animated holiday special it’s looked at quite sparingly about pining, yearning, and longing for all the characters involved Charlie Brown is dreading the thought of not getting a valentine Everyone else is happy to celebrate most notably Linus giving a gift to his teacher Love is different as a kid or an adult, who hasn’t been humbled by this emotion, it might not happen immediately but time might be kinder, not everyone gets something special, maybe anything on a holiday is better than nothing at all This special takes from the original comics strip while also adding new things on its own Charlie Brown feels the most miserable but it relates to many viewers whom have faced the same kind of pain This touched many viewers since its debut having massive sympathy for a cartoon character but that felt truely genuine It’s another classic that deserves to be treasured for decades

Easily the most underrated 'Peanuts' special, in my

Easily the most underrated 'Peanuts' special, in my opinion. The exploration of childish, unrequited love just feels both so funny and heartbreaking at the same time. The pacing is very tight and doesn't have any character moments go on for more than they need to. The ending is also deeply cynical and just has such a funny punchline that really encapsulates the desperation that a character like Charlie Brown shows around such a harsh holiday as Valentine's Day.
