Plot summary

A pawnbroker is found murdered in a remote town in a derelict building. Three people come under suspicion but all of them have perfect alibis and the investigation comes to a standstill. Almost fifteen years pass and the lead inspector decides to re-investigate.

Tragic and twisted love story the Korean cinema

Tragic and twisted love story the Korean cinema is well known for. The characters were well developed and story complex and involving. Some of the dramatics could have been trimmed down to improve the pace and sustain the buildup.

"Yoo-Han...I'm sorry for not catching you earlier" - Han Dong Soo A marvelous, stylish, amazingly directed, intelligently edited, astonishingly filmed and executed piece of drama. Based on the Japanese novel "Byakuyako" about a murder case that took place in a remote town and the investigation related to it. "White Night" is more than a cop drama or a thriller. It's a deep, psychological and emotionally disturbing film. Extremely recommended. It's definitely on in my top 5.
