Plot summary

Polly Parrish, a clerk at Merlin's Department Store, is mistakenly presumed to be the mother of a foundling. Outraged at Polly's unmotherly conduct, David Merlin becomes determined to keep the single woman and "her" baby together.

One of my favorite Christmas movies. Rogers is just adorable in this film with her quirky ha-ha's.

Enjoyable thanks to the charm of its stars

Enjoyable thanks to the charm of its stars Ginger Rogers, David Niven and Charles Coburn. I find interesting these three things: First, that it made it past the "Hays" Code, even though it was made clear that Rogers wasn't an out-of-wedlock mother. Second, the compassion showed to the assumed mother. Finally, the disconnect from the reality of the times, though that can be chalked off to the nature of a screwball comedy. Overall, a pleasant ~hour and a half with some fine dancing by Fred's better half.
